Facebook connects additional 50 million users; hits 250 million

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook Inc. has announced that the social network giant has reached 250 million users, 50 million more than what it announced three months back.

Facebook claimed that 70% of its users are outside America, many of them in other advertising-rich nations such as England and Canada, assuring its members that facebook is abiding to develop and innovate.

Mark Zuckerberg wrote in his blog, "Today as we celebrate our 250 millionth user, we are also continuing to develop Facebook to serve as many people in the world in the most effective way possible."

Zuckerberg further stated that facebook is approaching to the most in the world and building products that serve every one.

It may be noted here that company's sophisticated project, Facebook Connect that allows external sites to use Facebook login credentials and some profile data has proved to be a successful mission.

Moreover, the social network giant has been working on plans to reach people who wish to access the Web on a mobile device in lieu of a computer.

Facebook has projected $550 million in revenue by the end of 2009.

Overwhelmed board member Marc Andreessen is expecting the company to mint billions of dollars in the coming years.
