The U. S. House Intelligence Committee has launched an investigation of Central Intelligence Agency briefings given to congress. The Committee will also probe if the Bush administration concealed CIA's plans from congress.
One of the secret programs of CIA was to assassinate senior leaders of Ai Qaeda.
Leon E. Panetta, CIA's director clued-up the House Intelligence Committees that Dick Cheney, former vice president ordered the agency to hide the program from Congress.
Paul Gimigliano, a C. I. A. spokesman hopes that the new investigation should not engross CIA's attention, which is playing its vital role in protecting the country from foreign threats.
Committee Chairman, Democrat Silvestre Reyes said the decision to go ahead with the probe was taken after a careful consideration and consultation with Republican Pete Hoekstra and assured that the probe would be fair and square and would not distract CIA's working.
On the other hand, Pete Hoekstra said that Democrats want to politicize important intelligence issues.
