A singular amalgamation of a social network and a game, the 'Booyah Society' is a free iPhone app recently released by the Palo Alto, California-based startup Booyah!
Developed by former game developers, the Booyah Society, available free in iTunes, helps the players in creating an "achievement system for life" - by enabling them to customize an avatar and record their real-life activities.
Elaborating further, Keith Lee, Booyah's CEO and co-founder, said that each moment or activity that a player logs actually earns points towards the more than 100 'achievements' of the game, which - though similar to the various missions performed in video games - are essentially "designed for the real world."
The application would keep track of the activities a player likes to do the most -traveling, dining out, going to concerts - and provide location-based suggestions.
The unique and creative title of the new application explicitly implies that the app allows users not only to categorize their individual achievements in life, but also share them with their friends. The key idea the game revolves around is - achieve a lot in life and then share it!
Saying the Booyah Society is the "first game based on real-life achievements," Lee said: "If you don't think this is a game, then you probably don't believe that 'life is a game.' The goal, in gamer parlance, is to "level up in life."
