Greenpeace protests against HP by painting "Hazardous Products"

Activists from Greenpeace, an environmental group, have protested against Hewlett-Packard by painting a gigantic "Hazardous Products" sign on Hewlett-Packard's Palo Alto headquarters, using nontoxic children's finger paint.

Greenpeace blamed Hewlett-Packard for of "backtracking" on commitments to build environment-friendly gadgets.

It should be noted that HP, an IT system maker postponed its commitment to phase out dangerous substances such as brominated flame retardants and PVC plastic from its products by the end of the running year.

However, HP extended the time frame again to 2011.

Speaking his mind, Casey Harrell, Greenpeace Activist said, "If Apple can produce electronics that are virtually free of PVC and completely BFR-free-what is the hold-up for HP?"

Brominated flame retardants and PVC plastic, which are being used by the company, release a comical that is believed to cause cancer.

On the other side HP said that the company was committed to reduce the use of BFR and PVC in its products until these dangerous substances are eliminated entirely.
