Microsoft announces new stores in Arizona, California

Microsoft Corp., the software giant said on Tuesday that it has penned leases in Scottsdale, Arizona and Mission Viejo, California to open its first two retail stores this fall.

The Shops at Mission Viejo is already home to an Apple store. However, the other location does not have any Apple shop.

Kim Stocks, Microsoft spokeswoman said, "The stores are an opportunity absolutely to share with customers those technologies."

The stores will provide the Microsoft with an opportunity to stay connected with its customers.

Kim Stocks said the stores will sell laptops and Xbob 360 games in addition to Microsoft and third-party software.

It may be noted here the software maker is going to launch Windows 7 on Oct. 22, 2009.

Microsoft Corp. is also planning to open stores outside United States, though the company did not share time and location for the same.
