Barnes & Noble hit the headlines with the announcement that it would offer free Wi-Fi in its all 777 bookstores through out the United States.
Barnes & Noble has penned down a deal with network provider AT&T to make Wi-Fi available free of cost.
The company has been offering Wi-Fi access in its stores since 2005, but that service was not for free.
Now users can access to preview and download over 700,000 eBook titles being presented by the Barnes & Noble.
The company has plans to expand its e-book catalogue in the near future.
Barnes & Noble is planning to use the Wi-Fi service to sent messages to customers on their various devices, including coupons, notices about upcoming book signings. The company would also assist users to find the new releases. The customers would be able to opt-in to receive these messages.
Barnes & Noble is planning to develop its stores into community centers with cafes and on-site events like book signing.
