Microsoft to ship Windows 7 with Auto-Upgrade Switch & browser

Microsoft Corp., the software giant said Friday that users will be able to upgrade quickly and easily to a more feature rich version of the Windows 7 as the company would include a tool for the same.

Microsoft said new tool would allow users to create a screen from Windows 7, which would allow users to buy a product key to get a more feature rich version of OS.

The company would charge $79.99 from users would upgrade to Window 7 Home Premium from Windows 7 Starter. Upgrading to Windows 7 Professional from Windows 7 Home Premium would cost $89.99, while upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate from Window 7 Home Premium would cost $139.99.

In addition Microsoft would include a ballot screen, which would let customers to choose which browsers to install at the time of setting up a new Windows computer.

It may be noted here that initially Microsoft had wanted to launch Windows 7 in Europe lacking a browser. Such a version was called "E" version of OS.

However, European Union anti trust officials had been pushing Microsoft for a screen with browser.

Microsoft's Internet Explorer is still dominates the market.
