Activision Blizzard Inc., producer of videogames posted on Wednesday better-than-expected earnings for the second quarter, helped by releases such as "World of Warcraft" and "Prototype".
Activision reported a profit worth $195 million or 15 cents per share, much greater than $28 million or 5 cents per share in the previous year.
Net profit soared to $1.04 billion.
Nevertheless, the delay of two major releases till next year compelled the California-based company to hack its outlook for 2009 by 6 percent.
The videogame-maker hacked its 2009 non-GAAP profit outlook by $300 million to $4.5 billion.
Speaking on the issue, Thomas Tippl, CFO of the company said, "Given the continued economic uncertainty as well as hiring employment, we are monitoring the retail and consumer environment carefully."
However, Activision Blizzard Inc. said its annual forecast for adjusted profit would be 63 cents per share.
"Singularity" and "StarCraft II" are the two hot titles, which the company delayed till 2010.
It may be noted here that the installments of "Call of Duty" as well as "Guitar Hero" franchises and releases like "X-Men Origins," and "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" helped the company a lot.
In the recent trading, shares of the company closed at $11.55, down 2.4 percent.
