Twitter is still struggling hard to fend off distributed denial of service (DDOS) attacks, which hit twitter and other social net working sites such as LiveJournal, Facebook, Google's Blogger et cetera.
DDOS attacked the social net working sites on Thursday, continued Friday and probably will continue all through the weekend.
It was informed that attacks were aimed at an activist blogger who uses the name “Cyxymu” and possesses accounts on Twitter, LiveJournal, Facebook et cetera because he was using the sites to criticized Russia’s conduct towards Georgia.
But the botnet aimed at Cyxymu’s pages came at such a rate that it affected services for other users also.
Chad Etzel, who works for Twitter's application development platform, said that the DDoS attacks were continue with no signs of lower intensity, signifying Twitter will go on with its defensive stratigies.
Speaking on the topic, Chad Etzel said, "At this point, removing any of those defenses is not an option."
Users of third-party Twitter applications have been facing problems in logging-in.
Twitter is not sure when its application platform be back into standard service.
