California-based CourseSmart LLC has unveiled its plans to provide 7,000 e-textbooks on Apple's iPhone as well as iPod Touch, allowing students an easy access to digital notes.
Speaking on the topic, CourseSmart's executive VP, Frank Lyman said, "Nobody is going to use their iPhone to do their homework, but this does provide real mobile learning."
CourseSmart's current move, which is aiming at students would let students sort out text-book questions anywhere and anytime as they can make a search for definite words and phrases.
Frank Lyman also informed that CourseSmart presents digital text-books for approximately half what it costs to buy the physical books.
On asking about the availability of CourseSmart texts on Amazon's Kindle or Kindle DX, Frank Lyman said the books would be made available anywhere students desire them.
But it may be noted here that CourseSmart and Amazon have not yet entered any discussions.
According to an estimate college e-textbooks will fetch $117.5 million in sales in the running year, showing an increase of 10.3 percent.
