Cisco, Warner Music expands Web affiliation

Cisco Systems Inc has expanded its partnership with Warner Music Group Corp in a move that would boost company’s online presence.
 
Warner Music Group has been making use of Cisco's Eos entertainment software plus network know-how to offer a platform for musicians since January 2009. Warner Music Group has plans to add to its revenue streams via expanded deal.

Cisco’s new technology tools would let music fans to approach musicians, movies and TV shows via interactive Web sites, helping the media companies to promote their products. 

The $40 billion Cisco, which provides consumer products including video camcorders, Wi-Fi routers and cable set top boxes, hopes that more entertainment companies would hug its platform.

John Chambers, Cisco’s CEO said, "This reinvigorates a whole industry. What they're doing will change the music industry forever."

As per Warner Music improved Web sites would assist artists in approaching customers and making dormant business models.

Warner Music Group, which is on its way to diversify its business, has reported a wider-than-expected loss for Q2 due to 9 percent fall in album sales.

Cisco also has been struggling against falling revenue.

John Chambers estimates that music industry is worth of $1.3 trillion and Cisco wants a bite from that.
