Verizon Wireless has released a firmware update which brings RIM’s BlackBerry Storm to 4.7.0.75; and can be found at the Verizon Wireless BlackBerry software update website. The update is aimed at fixing the problem of numerous complaints about the sluggish performance of the device.
The RIM BlackBerry Storm - the first touch-screen BlackBerry – which has been out for nearly two weeks has received some mixed reviews, skewing slightly more on the negative side. While its touchscreen and features have been appreciated, its poor performance has been complained about – and, hence, the update!
The update will improve some problematic issues, to bring about better accelerometer performance - switching from portrait to landscape mode - and improved battery life.
CNET is reporting that an over the air update will start being pushed out to Storm devices starting at 12:30am Saturday morning, though there is no official confirmation of that as yet.
Some Blackberry Storm users have installed the update on their devices, and are still evaluating the effects.
