Of late, there have been indications galore that the popular social networking site Facebook is apparently working on planned endeavors to keep itself ahead of rival sites, as well as to establish itself as 'must-use' platform!
Some of the strategic moves by Facebook that depict the site's inclination towards 'bigger and better' things include - its recent acquisition of well-known niche social media platform FriendFeed as well as its development team; the newly-released search functionality; the launch of a streamlined version Facebook 'Lite'; and the supposed association with the new startup browser RockMelt!
According to a Monday news report, Facebook's moves explicitly hint at its aim of becoming the next Google! With Facebook users spending more than 13.9 billion minutes on its sites - sharing their likes and dislikes and joining groups that are of interest to them - Facebook is in an exceptional position to benefit from the vast goldmine of marketing data.
Parts of the report said: "Facebook's purchase of FriendFeed, an obscure social-media platform, is potentially momentous. It's an application that acts as a clearinghouse for all of your social-media activities. Google has long tried to get into the social game, and Facebook surely wouldn't mind expanding into some of Google's territory."
The way Facebook is going, Facebook. com may well become the next super computer operating system for communications!
