Canadian model gets Google to reveal the identity of slanderous blogger!

In what can be considered a landmark legal victory, the 37-year-old Canadian model and Vogue covergirl, Liskula Cohen, has won a court order in New York, whereby search giant Google has been forced to reveal the identity of an anonymous blogger who posted her photos and wrote slanderous comments about her, a year back.

In the Monday ruling, Justice Joan Madden of the New York State Supreme Court ordered Google to hand over identifying details pertaining to the person who created the anonymous blog using the Web giant's Blogger. com program.

According to Cohen's allegations, the five posts made by the blogger last year contained "defamatory statements concerning her appearance, hygiene and sexual conduct that are malicious and untrue." The posts described her as a "ho" and a "psychotic, lying, whoring... skank."

After Google handed over the blogger's identifying details, Cohen learnt that the blogger - a woman whom she refused to identify - was an acquaintance of hers from the New York social scene. Cohen said in a Wednesday TV interview that she forgave the woman, dismissing her as "an irrelevant person in my life."

Meanwhile, saying that Cohen would proceed with a defamation suit against the woman, Cohen's lawyer, Steven Wagner, said that this particular case was "sending out a message that the Internet is no longer a safe harbor for defamatory language."
