McAfee's recently-released third annual list of the "most dangerous celebrities" in cyberspace has the former "7th Heaven" star Jessica Biel in the top slot! McAfee said that nearly 20 percent of the searches pertaining to the star - like 'Jessica Biel', 'Jessica Biel downloads', 'Jessica Biel wallpaper', 'Jessica Biel photos' and others - have been found to be leading to Web sites with malicious content.

The other "dangerous celebrities" in the top ten list include searches for Beyoncé in the second place; and Jennifer Aniston in the third. The others that follow in sequential order are: Tom Brady; Jessica Simpson; Gisele Bundchen; Miley Cyrus; Megan Fox and Angelina Jolie tied in the eighth spot; Ashley Tisdale; and Brad Pitt

The McAfee findings underline the fact that cybercriminals are aware of the fact that celebrities, as well as popular news stories, generate a lot of interest among Internet users; and, hence, they often place malware - which includes spam, viruses, spyware, adware, or phishing mechanisms - at such sites.

Commenting on the situation, Jeff Green, SVP of McAfee Avert Labs, said: "Cybercriminals are star watchers too - they latch onto popular celebrities to encourage the download of malicious software in disguise. Consumers' obsession with celebrity news and culture is harmless in theory, but one bad download can cause a lot of damage to a computer."
