The Google-owned popular video sharing site, YouTube, announced on Tuesday that it is opening its singular 'YouTube Partnership Program' to the masses; whereby it will share advertising revenue with users who upload the most popular clips, pertaining to any video - ranging from skateboarding dogs to dancing babies!
Thus far, the YouTube ad cash sharing program was limited to uploading of megahits. Moreover, only those users could share ad revenue with YouTube who had become formal members of the partnership program; and, thus, produced videos at regular intervals.
The extension of the partnership program to the masses will allow individuals to flourish financially when their videos become 'eligible' - on the basis of the number of views of the clips and how broadly the clips are shared with other users. Once a particular video is 'eligible' for monetization, the creator of the piece will receive an 'Enable Revenue Sharing' message.
To begin with, the extended partnership program will to be available only in the US.
Talking about YouTube's latest step in the ad revenue sharing - which essentially is aimed at improving the company's chances of making money from the countless videos that are daily uploaded to the site, Tom Pickett, YouTube's director online sales, said: "We think there's tens of thousands more partners that we can generate through this content."
