Microsoft's contentious 'race-swap' episode, more than the so-tagged 'racist' approach, is actually a blunder created while using the photoshop feature - though the issue is a sensitive one, it actually exhibits an apparently unmindful photo-editing work, above all else!
It appears that the person responsible for the swap was amateurish to a fault - there were probably no second thoughts involved before replacing a white man's head with that of a black man; and thereby ending up with the picture of a white man with a conspicuous 'black' hand!
However, this photo-swapping incident is not a singular attempt by any means. Such measures are often resorted to, especially for advertising in particular areas, in order to gratify the dominant races. But, obviously, they are much more thoughtfully-made changes.
The entire screw-up was seemingly that 'occasional stupidity' which sometimes happens without any ulterior motive - clearly here, someone wisecrack thought a black person would not be easily acceptable for the Polish version of the IT-tools-specific ad, since Poland's population is ethnically Polish and almost entirely white!
With the widely-known-by-now photo editing gaffe being a source of embarrassment for Microsoft, the software giant has wisely published an apology for the goof-up. In a Twitter post, Microsoft public relations officials said: "Marketing site photo mistake - sincere apologies. We're in the process of taking down the image."
