Going by reports from Taiwanese rumor site DigiTimes, all versions of Apple's iPods will get built-in camera upgrades this September!
Though there have been earlier rumors about the iPod Touch and iPod Nano getting a camera upgrade, DigiTimes, citing industry sources, has reported that Apple's aging iPod - the hard-drive-based iPod Classic - will also receive the built-in camera treatment next month.
The DigiTimes' report also said that, for the forthcoming line of iPod upgrades, OmniVision will become the lone supplier of 3.2 megapixel CMOS image sensors - the company already provides the 3.2MP camera module for the Apple iPhone 3GS.
Though the rumors are yet to be officially substantiated, it is widely expected that a camera will soon be a part of the new iPod Touch, since it comprises all the new imaging features of iPhone OS 3.0; and that the iPod Nano may also possibly receive the upgrade.
However, it is being assumed that just in case the iPod Classic too receives the potential camera upgrade, it would probably be the last possible upgrade for the particular iPod - more so as the most cost-effective and dependable 'Flash' memory has become a standard feature of the remaining iPod versions.
Rumors further have it that the new Apple iPod product line will be announced at Apple's annual media-centric event, which most likely take place on September 9!
