PriceWaterhouseCoopers’ revenue up by 1% amid hard times

PricewaterhouseCoopers has pocketed revenues worth £2.25 billion during the year till June 2009 as compared with £2.24 billion in the same period last year.

Firm's underlying net-revenue soared to £1.98 billion, up by 1 per cent.

Firm's business at West of England and Wales reported a 5 per cent growth to £62 million turnover in the running year, up from £59 million in 2008.

Advisory business of PwC reported a growth of 5 per cent to £737 million.

Ian Powell, chairman of PwC UK, said, "This year has been one of general economic turmoil and against this backdrop our results represent a solid financial performance." But PwC's auditing fees dropped by 1 per cent to settle at £861 million.

Nonetheless, Ian Powell said that outlook for the economy remained uncertain due to the weak confidence of the consumers.

On the other hand, firm's closest rival, Deloitte has posted a decline of 2 per cent in revenue to £1.97 billion for the period of 2008-09. Deloitte's net profit dropped to £601 million, down by 6.1 per cent.
