A court order was recently won by TiVo Inc., which the judge predicts will lead to about $200 million in damages for TiVo, from sister companies Dish Network Corp. and EchoStar Corp.
It should be noted though that only if Dish and EchoStar lose their appeal of the initial ruling, which is ongoing, the sanctions will be paid. So it won't be wrong to say that TiVo, which originally sought $1 billion, as of now, has won only partially.
Via a statement, TiVo said: "We are pleased by the Court's ruling to impose contempt sanctions of approximately $200 million against EchoStar for its continued violation of a Court-ordered permanent injunction."
In the meantime, Dish and EchoStar remain confident about the appeals process.
