In a momentous team-up, Google and Hasbro, the company behind the 74-year-old 'property-building game' Monopoly, have come together to bring a free, web-based version of Monopoly, which would virtually turn the entire globe into a board, thanks to Google Earth and Street View!
The Monopoly City Streets' application has been developed by Hasbro's UK digital agency Tribal DDB with the requisite assistance from Internet search giant Google.
In the opinion of Hasbro, the property empire building game, the online version of which is scheduled for launch on Wednesday, will acquire an unbelievably-expansive scale. The blog said: "The entire planet will be pitted against one another in an online game of Monopoly, turning the globe into one giant game board," which will finally reveal "the greatest property magnate the world has ever known."
Though a detailed disclosure about the online version of Monopoly is still awaited, Hasbro has said that players will be free to own any street in the world, and build houses and castles for rental purposes. Furthermore, they will also be able to obstruct the street moves of other players.
Hasbro's official blog said that the 'global' game will comprise a stupendous number of new buildings types from Monopoly - the vast property range would include low- priced houses to breathtaking skyscrapers; thereby giving the players a unique opportunity to shape their property empire according to their wish!
