Computer-manufacturers such as Dell and Falcon Northwest are aiming at the budget-buyer section by adding Intel's new Core processors that includes the Core i5 chip, which was unveiled on Monday.
The Core i5-750 is meant for the budget computers and Core i7-870 and Core i7-860 aims at mid-range to high-end PCs.
Dell will provide budget customers with two PCs viz. the Studio XPS 8000 and 9000, which will be equipped with Intel's new processors and will be available starting at US$799.
A spokesman for Dell, Lionel Mechaca, said, “The Studio XPS 8000 is a great option for the kind of user who needs performance and power without a massive full-size minitower.”
The Studio XPS 8000 can swathe two optical drives, which includes a 6x Blu-ray disc burner plus 16x DVD+/RW drive.
However the company did not provide any specific information regarding XPS 9000 desktop.
Kelt Reeves, CEO of Falcon Northwest said that they were converting their budget-conscious 'Talon' line to Intel's new processors as they were comparatively low in price and high in performance.
The Core i5-750 runs at the speed of 2.66GHz. On the other hand, the Core i7-870 and the Core i7-860 run at the speed of 2.93GHz and 2.8GHz respectively.
However, the world's top PC-manufacturer, Hewlett-Packard declined to comment on new desktops based on Intel's new processors.
