Courtney Love demands Guitar Hero recall over "odious" Cobain image

Los Angeles  - Courtney Love urged the recall of the newly released Guitar Hero 5 video game Thursday over what she said was an "odious" portrayal of her former husband, the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.

"I think Kurt would despise this game alone, let alone this avatar," she said in a series of postings on her Twitter account. "I have nothing to do with Guitar Hero. I loathe it and find it odious."

Love denied ever approving Cobain's inclusion in the game, a claim denied by game-maker Activision.

"Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate, in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love, to use Kurt Cobain's likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero 5," the company said in a statement. (dpa)
