In a move that would step up the competition in wireless pricing, Sprint Nextel Corp Thursday announced a new "Any Mobile, Anytime" feature that would give the users of Sprint's 'Everything Data' plans the added advantage of making unlimited domestic calls to other mobile phones on any US wireless operator.
While the new feature will be automatically added to the current customers of the unlimited data plans, at no extra cost; new subscribers can avail the offer at a $69.99 monthly charge for 450 monthly minutes to landline phones, and at $89.99 a month for increasing landline calling to 900 minutes. Meanwhile, mobile-to-mobile calls will not entail any deduction from the monthly allotment of minutes.
In addition, the new plan will include unlimited texting, Sprint TV, and access to other data services, as well as National Football League Mobile Live. However, the plan does not include international calls, and for calls made while roaming outside the standard service territory of the plan, the users will be charged against landline minutes.
Noting that Sprint's rivals characteristically 'restrict' unlimited calling either to other subscribers on a particular network or to the user's specific "calling circles," Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said: "We don't think our customers want to have to keep track of or only talk to friends, colleagues or family members who make the same choices they do!"
