Earlier studies have shown that high prenatal testosterone exposure leads to longer ring finger outstretching the index finger which affects the health and behavior of men in later years.
Recent study has shown that long ring finger can also be indicators of speed demons in men. Hence the urge to cross speed limits could be an inborn trait.
Researchers from the University of Mainz, in Germany, reached at the findings after analyzing data collected from 77 male drivers with an average age of 38 years.
A finger size indicator was used by the team to scan the left hands of the subjects in order to calculate the difference in length between the ring and index fingers. The driving offences of these men over the past five years were also studied.
Data analysis revealed that men with longer ring finger were booked for breaking more traffic rules as compared to other men.
The researchers said: "A longer ring finger than index finger was related to more traffic violations. Hormone exposure in the womb might increase traffic violations in later life."
