The average price of regular unleaded gasoline in United States plunged 5 cents to $2.59 a gallon as compared with gasoline-prices three weeks earlier.

As per a survey conducted by the national Lundberg, the gasoline prices were down from $2.64 a gallon on Aug. 21.

The survey also recorded that the highest price for regular gasoline in the US was $3.27 a gallon in Anchorage, while St. Louis reported the lowest price at $2.26 a gallon.

Gasoline prices were down by around $1.11 as compared to the same period last year.

Gasoline prices fell as supplies rose and demand dropped because unemployed people didn't have a drive daily to work.

The national Lundberg surveyed as many as 5,000 gas stations across US.
