Lenevo Tuesday unveiled two new additions to its ThinkPad lineup - the ThinkPad X200 tablet and the ThinkPad T400s laptop, which supports four-finger multitouch input, instead of the standard two-finger touch input offered by most touchscreen laptops.
Moreover, in anticipation of Microsoft's Windows 7 OS, scheduled for October 22, Lenovo also announced a singular 'SimpleTap' application, for giving a simple touch access to hardware controls and software thereby bringing "simplicity to the multitouch screen experience."
Lenovo's $1,654-priced ThinkPad X200 is an ultraportable two-finger laptop version, powered by Intel's low-power Core 2 Duo chip with up to 6MB of cache. Weighing at
3.5 pounds, the laptop features an SSD drive and an 8-cell battery, which offers a battery life of up 10.4 hours.
Meanwhile, the $1,999-priced ThinkPad T400s is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processors running at either 2.4GHz or 2.53GHz with 6MB of cache. Weighing 3.91 pounds, the laptop features 250GB of storage; 4GB of memory; 802.11 b/g/n wireless networking; Intel integrated graphics; and an integrated webcam.
Some other notable features of the ThinkPad T400s include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support; and a variety of choices in CD/DVD drives, including Blu-ray. Equipped with a 6- cell battery, the laptop offers 5.5 hours of run time.
While Lenevo has not disclosed the launch date of its ThinkPad X200 tablet, the company said that the ThinkPad T400s will hit the markets by September-end.
