'Desperate Housewives' actress has lung cancer
McCluskey

Mrs. McCluskey on "Desperate Housewives", pleyed by two-time Emmy award winner actresss, Kathryn Joosten, has been diagnosed with lung cancer and she has decided to fight back with everything she's got. She said says, "I've got a little hang-up here, but we're going to handle it and move forward. I'm doing great."

The bad news was revealed to her less than a week ago when doctors detected a spot on her lungs. Joosten said, "I felt like the legs had been pushed out from under me," she says. "I completely did not expect it, and was devastated. I was crying for nearly five days straight".

She has gone through her first fight against the disease in 2001 when she was a cast member on "The West Wing". She informed the producers of "Housewives" that the cancer had resurfaced and they were very supportive.

She honored a previously scheduled engagement the very next day and spoke to an audience in Oklahoma City. She said that she would continue to speak out as she fights cancer for the second time.

She said that her voice is important because lung cancer's association with cigarettes leads to a blame game that points out the victim as the devil behind the suffering. She told that the very first thing asked to lung cancer patients is whether they smoked and she acknowledges the fact that she did it because she was told that it was glamorous and then got addicted.

She said that she got addicted because the tobacco companies add additives to make their cigarettes. She declared that one of her aims is also to eradicate the stigma.
