A recent statement by Anne Lacombe, the spokeswoman for the Corcoran Group, has revealed that Long Island beach house of the infamous money lender, Bernard Madoff, has been sold for over $8.75 million to an unidentified buyer or buyers.

The information about a supposed transaction comes within days of the property being seized by the US Marshals Service and put up for sale.

It was on September 1 that the US Marshals Service put the 3,000-square-foot house - comprising four-bedrooms, three-baths, and boasting ocean views - on the market to help recompense the victims of Madoff's gigantic Ponzi investment scam.

While a number of buyers had reportedly submitted bids for the property that is under contract, US Marshal Joseph Guccione said that the name of the buyer and the purchase price were still being kept under the wraps "to protect the integrity of the sale."

Meanwhile, the government is also selling the Madoff's two other US homes, along with his cars, boats and personal effects. In addition, though most of the assets of Madoff's wife, Ruth, have also been taken away; the hapless victims of the Ponzi scheme are suing Ruth to recover far more than the government has allowed her to keep.

The 71-year-old Madoff has been sentenced to 150 years in prison for operating the Ponzi scheme and swindling over $65 billion from thousands of investors!
