As many as 500 Protestors marched peacefully in Pittsburgh on Sunday, demanding G20 to generate more jobs for the unemployed around the globe. The Group of 20 World Economic Summit is going to take place September 24-25 in Pittsburgh.
Protestors claimed that the economic recovery was not generating enough jobs. It may be noted here that US has been suffering soaring rate of unemployment and economists are predicting that unemployment could reach 10 per cent next year.
Earlier it was being expected that about 1,500 protestors would take part in the march, but many protestors complained that the city delayed in issuing permissions.
Protestors also criticized comments made earlier by President Barack Obama which questioned the efficiency of mass protests on issues like global capitalism.
International Longshore and Warehouse Union's Clarence Thomas described the comments as very, very disrespectful.
However, no incident of clashes between the protestors and the police was reported.
The administration has plans to increase the number of police from present 900 to about 4,000 in the city.
Recently, at the G20 meeting in London in April thousands of people protested and one man died after a confrontation with the police.
Another march is scheduled to take place on Thursday.
