Yahoo spends $100m to promote its brand
Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz

Yahoo CEO Carol Bartz announced Tuesday a $100 million campaign to become the center of peoples' online lives.

Yahoo will kick off the campaign on September 28 in United States and will extend the campaign gradually into other regions. The campaign will run through 2010. Under the campaign, Yahoo will run ads on the web, TV, billboards and radio.

It should be noted here that Yahoo has witnessed a fall in profits from its brand in the past few years as many people turned to other Internet giants such as Google Inc., twitter Inc., and Facebook Inc.

Yahoo's share of the search market has shrunk in the past few years. Yahoo's brand witnessed a decline of 7 per cent in its value to $5.1 billion in the last year. Hence, Carol Bartz is trying to get back its lost share with the new advertising push.

"The Internet is under new management, yours" and "The Internet has a new personality, yours" will be some of the catchphrases to be used by Yahoo during the ad campaign.
