Bing’s search market share increases to 9.3%; potential for accelerated progress!

According to the most recent comScore data referenced by JPMorgan in a Monday research note, Microsoft Bing increased its US search market share to 9.3 percent in August, with its increase of nearly a half percentage point over the July figures of 8.9 percent.

However, with Google still remains the undisputed market leader with its strong foothold on two-thirds of the search market being way ahead of Bing's share. Nonetheless, most users have found similar results using Google and Bing, the latter is considered to be outstandingly good in terms of narrowing the searches - along with suggesting further search terms, Bing also allows users to preview pages in the results box.

Meanwhile, going by the earlier this month data released by Nielsen, Bing is the fastest growing US search engine, boasting a search volume increase of 22.1 percent in the month of August, and it visibly has immense potential for accelerated future progress.

Microsoft has enhanced Bing further with its recent launch of Bing Visual Search, which allows users to view search results in the form of rows of images in place of the standard lists of links.

In addition, for maintaining the 'sharpness' of Bing's accuracy, Microsoft intends releasing two major updates every year. Already, at the Microsoft annual meeting in early September, the company's executives have been given a sneak preview of the forthcoming Bing 2.0!
