US carrier Verizon is reportedly considering not offering the Palm Pre phone on its network from early 2010.

TheStreet. com reported recently that sources close to the company said Verizon unsatisfactory sales of Pre at Sprint has played a vital role in company's recent decision.

Moreover, there have been conflicts between Palm's app store and Verizon's VCast service.

In addition, Verizon wants to focus on new smartphones from Research in Motion and Motorola.

At present, Sprint has a contract to be the exclusive US carrier of the Pre. In UK, O2 is has an exclusive deal with the Palm to offer the Pre.

Other carriers will likely lose heart in case the Verizon ditches Pre.

Palm said in a statement that it was committed to work with more US carriers. However, the company did not clear if its statement was in response of TheStreet. com's report.
