For meeting the singular needs of corporate users who tend to take their presentations on the road, Dell Tuesday announced its latest offering - the thin, light and captivating Dell Latitude Z600!
Boasting a 16-inch widescreen, the Z600 features a new wireless charging technology, whereby the laptop batteries get charged when they are placed on a special stand that generates an electromagnetic field to facilitate the charging process.
As per Steve Belt, Dell's VP of business client engineering, the technology, called inductive charging, takes about the same recharge time as an AC adapter.
With the "Z" implying Z-height, the Z600 would be the thinnest in the Latitude lineup, measuring merely 0.55 inches. The laptop runs on Intel's Core 2 Duo low-voltage dual-core chips at speeds of between 1.4GHz and 1.6GHz.
The other features of the Dell Latitude Z600 include 4GB of RAM; 512GB of storage; two solid-state drives; Bluetooth and cellular modems. The multiple wireless options of the laptop include Wi
-Fi 802.11 a/g/n and mobile broadband connectivity through 3G or WiMax networks.
Another notable feature of the Z600 is the 'Latitude On' - the quick-boot environment of the laptop that facilitaes speedy booting. Since Z600 is based on a lightweight Linux version, the environment can run certain applications without the need to fully boot into Windows.
Dell Latitude Z600 is priced at US$1,999 and is available in US, Canada and parts of Europe and Asia.
