In an attempt to extend its subscription mobile TV broadcasts beyond cellphones, the Qualcomm subsidiary FLO TV has come up with its new "FLO TV Personal Television" - a portable TV that would allow users to receive FLO's digitally-transmitted live mobile TV service.

Talking about the company's newest offering, Bill Stone, FLO TV president, said: "We are thrilled to be launching the first of FLO TV's direct-to-consumer offerings with the FLO TV Personal Television."

FLO TV's new device, likely to be available in time for 'The Holidays,' has been designed by frog design inc. and manufactured by HTC. It features a 3.5-inch screen, built-in speakers, a 3.5mm stereo jack, and a kick out stand to rest the TV on a table.

In addition, the new FLO TV technology, which is transmitted on UHF Ch. 55 spectrum and is already available on LG and HTC mobile phones, does not require users to plug into an aerial atop their homes.

Going by the information forwarded by Qualcomm, the Personal TV will offer nearly 20 channels, comprising news, entertainment, and children's programs; and a single charge will allow 5 hours of viewing time.

About the evident expansion of FLO TV, Stone said: "With the FLO TV service available on mobile handsets, in-car entertainment systems and consumer electronics devices like FLO TV Personal Television, FLO TV offers something for every kind of consumer on-the-go."
