US PSP sales jump 300% owing to PSPgo

Sony Computer Entertainment America has unveiled the fact that the sales of the PSP surged 300 per cent in the country during the three days from the commencing of the PSPgo.

In addition, number of game downloads through the PlayStation Store also jumped by 200 per cent, raising the North American PlayStation Network revenue considerably.

Patrick Seybold, corporate communications director, told Gamasutra, “The launch of PSPgo has generated strong consumer interest in the overall PSP platform and the PlayStation Network's digital content offering.”

Mr. Seybold further added that the company would launch a number of smash hit games such as LittleBigPlanet which would bring a strong holiday season for the PSPgo plus PSP-3000.

In Britain the PSPgo debuted at £224.99, but major retailers such as HMV have reduced the prices to £199.99.
