Marking the third anniversary of its takeover by Google, YouTube revealed in a blog that it has achieved a milestone of sorts by streaming more than one billion videos per day - thereby strengthening its dominant position in the online video arena!
Proclaiming the achievement, an official blog post by YouTube's co-founder and CEO Chad Hurley read thus: "Today, I'm proud to say that we have been serving well over a billion views a day on YouTube. This is great moment in our short history and we owe it all to you."
Hurley further said that even three years post-acquisition, the YouTube platform and business "continue to grow and evolve."
Hurley added that while the company remains committed to its fundamental principles, it has evolved in the sense that with increased bandwidth its video quality has also enhanced. Furthermore, the demand for longer, full-length content has also encouraged the company to bring more shows and movies to the YouTube site.
Noting that quick load times, open platforms and a 'clip culture' were the crucial tenets of YouTube's foundation, Hurley credited the company success to those doctrines, which he said had become 'staples' of online video streaming.
Hurley further specified that even after having accomplished the enviable feat of over one billion views per day, YouTube intends sticking to its basic tenets while undertaking innovations for the future!
