The Department of Energy has come up with a new Energy Efficiency Appliance Rebate program that will provide customers with a rebate valuing $300 million on the purchase of energy-efficient appliances.
Rules for these Energy Star appliance rebates are being worked-out. It was informed that the rebates in this program will probably be made available later this year or early next year.
Speaking on the issue, Governor Tim Kaine, said, “People are really working to try to save on energy costs because energy costs are high.”
If someone buys an energy-saving appliance during the state sales tax holiday this weekend, he/she can get a rebate from the state.
However, the appliance must be under $2,500 and should be for personal use. Apart from that the appliance must be certified by the EPA Energy Star and WaterSense program.
