Apple has revamped its best-selling Mac model - the economical, entry-level 13-inch MacBook laptop – in time for the holiday season!
To give the $999-priced new MacBook a more appealing appearance, Apple had molded the original polycarbonate plastic material into a more modern Unibody enclosure. With no grayish surface implanted atop the laptop’s casing, the overhauled MacBook now boasts a consistent white color, and a smoother surface sans the sharp edges of its predecessor.
Along with giving the MacBook a new look, Apple has also given it new innards; and has equipped it with a multi-touch glass touchpad, a non-detachable 60Wh battery.
Further, the new laptop’s display, though retaining the earlier 1280-by-800-pixel resolution, now brags LED backlighting for a notably brighter display. The device has a round iSight hole with only a status light on its right side. While the size of the power button has been decreased, the keyboard keys appear more solid and slightly less noisy than the previous model.
On the inside, the speed of the most recent MacBook, which stills uses an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, has been improved to 2.26GHz from the earlier model’s 2.13GHz speed. In addition, the new model supports 1066MHz DDR3 RAM vis-à-vis the earlier 800MHz DDR2 RAM.
In terms of graphics, the new MacBook retains the Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics processor that shares 256MB of RAM with main memory.
