Going by a recent revelation coming from Verizon Wireless' PR agency, the release date for the uniquely-advertised Motorola Droid, as well as a countdown to an official announcement may just be round the corner!
As per Sascha Segan of Gearlog, a proper announcement of the forthcoming Motorola device will be made by Verizon on October 28. Furthermore, a postcard from the Verizon's PR agency specified that the likley release date of the Motorola Droid is November 9.
A wide array of the features of the Droid - the first smartphone to be powered by Android 2.0 - was highlighted by Verizon Wireless in its supposedly 'iPhone-attacking' commercial, "Everything iDon't….. Droid does."
The notable features that Android 2.0 will bring to the Motorola Droid, which will have a slide-out QWERTY thumbboard, include built-in sync support for Exchange and Facebook; a new Maps application; and a new UI makeover, among other things.
According to Verizon, the Motorola Droid will also feature a 3.7-inch screen with a rather high resolution of 854 x 480 pixels; a 5-megapixel camera with night shot capabilities; and a 600 MHz TI OMAP 3430 processor.
However, leading analysts opine that in case Verizon is to deliver Android as it is intended to be, then it will have to forsake its own idea of customization in order to accommodate real user customization of the forthcoming Motorola Droid!
