EU Parliament allows member countries to stop pirates

Member states of the European Parliament have received the green signal to rip persistent file-sharers apart the Internet.

The European Parliament’s recent move will help its member states in preventing internet users from infringing copyright laws.

The European Parliament dropped a change to its Telcoms Package that would have hindered its member countries from cutting off pirates without court approval.

As per an estimate, around 14 per cent internet users in Europe take part in illegal file-sharing.

But, analyst Mark Mulligan of Forrester believes that legislation alone can not tackle piracy.

Speaking his mind, Mark Mulligan said, “Piracy will not be solved by legislation alone. Without compelling services piracy will not be beaten.”

Originally, the European Parliament was not in favor of such a law against pirates, but countries keen to adopt tough anti-piracy laws pressurized it to take step.
