The Guardian jobs website cautioned its users via an email that their personal information was at risk as the site suffered an attack from a ‘sophisticated and deliberate hack.’

The breach, which came to light on Friday, is related to personal details of people who had applied for a job through Guardian jobs website.

Speaking on the issue, Guardian News & Media stated, “We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users and are treating this situation with the utmost seriousness.”

The media company has advised the affected people to seek help from an agency, which assists the victims of identity infringement.

The Metropolitan police are probing the case.
