Windows 7 on track to break retail records

Microsoft’s Windows 7 OS is on track to break all sales records.

Online retailer Amazon has already declared that Windows 7 has outshined Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows to become the biggest pre-ordered item of all time in Britain. Category Director Jeremy Fennell at DSGi said at the time of launch of Windows 7, “We have sold more copies of Windows 7 in three weeks on pre-order than Vista sold in its first year.”

The software giant expects that its new operating system will erase problems suffered by Vista, which was launched in 2007.

Before its launch on October 22, people started queuing up at midnight outside stores to purchase the new operating system.

The Home Premium edition of Windows 7 is available for £79.99, while the full version is available with a price tag of £149.99.

After 1 January 2010, the price of the Home Premium edition of Windows 7 will jump to £99.99. According to Amazon demand for Windows 7is still surging up.
