Department of Health Approves Nintendo Wii Fit Plus

The Nintendo Wii Fit Plus has created history by becoming the first ever computer game to bag an approval from the Department of Health. The gaming console will now proudly display logos from the Change4Life Campaign. The aim of the campaign is to waken people's interest in exercise and healthy eating.

In times where kids are putting on weight at an alarmingly high rate, people are viewing the video game as a definite boon. According to a Health Department spokesman, active video games like the Wii Fit Plus are a "great way to get kids moving".

An updated version of the much popular Wii Fit, Nintendo's Wii Fit Plus will include the already offered workouts like yoga, aerobics and hula-hooping, with an added ability to target specific body areas. Nintendo will use the Change4Life brand on both online and traditional stores as well as in TV advertisements.

A Department of Health spokeswoman said, "Active video games, where kids need to jump up and down or dance about as part of the game, are a great way to get kids moving more. Little bits of activity like this throughout the day can easily add up to the 60 active minutes kids need".

In addition to Nintendo, the Department of Health has tied up with Cadbury and Pepsi as well, both of which have committed funds to ensure that the Campaign is duly promoted.
