With the Monday addition of the tracker, similar to Digg, Facebook now allows the users to keep a track of the number of times people post and share articles and videos on the social networking site.
According to Facebook, its 'Share' button, allows users to see how many other users are sharing a particular article or video. The developers' blog of the site carries all the necessary information the developers may need about the new feature.
About the new 'tracker' button that enables users to see the 'most shared' items, Facebook elaborated in its blog post, saying: "For example, if you come across an interesting news story on The Huffington Post or the latest gadget on Chip Online, you'll be able to watch the number on the counter climb as more people share the item with their friends. This makes it easy to see what is being shared the most."
In addition to the tracker, the social network has also announced some additional details pertaining to the process for 'memorializing' the profiles of its deceased members.
Noting that the deceased person's profile will be locked down and can be viewed only by 'confirmed' friends, Facebook said: "Memorializing an account also prevents anyone from logging into it in the future, while still enabling friends and family to leave posts on the profile Wall in remembrance."
