According to recent reports, a strong link connecting an ex Chief Executive Officer of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and the much talked about Galleon Group information leak scandal has been detected, which makes the said CEO the biggest name to be linked to the scandal so far.
If sources are to be believed, Hector Ruiz, who is now facing possible criminal charges as a result of the case filed by the Manhattan U. S. Attorney's office this month, leaked important AMD inside information to the manager of a hedge fund in
2008.
Danielle Chiesi has been identified as fund's manager to whom the information was passed. In addition to Chiesi, 6 other hedge fund managers and executives were taken into custody this month. The Hedge Fund Insider Trading Case, as per authority reports, generated over $25 Million in profits which were completely illegal.
In addition to the current Chairman of AMD's affiliate Globalfoundries, Federal Prosecutors have named Galleon co-founder Raj Rajaratnam and five others as possible suspects in the information leak case.
While Ruiz and AMD were not available for a comment, Globalfoundries spokesman Jon Carvill did share that the firm has not been contacted by any Government authority involved with the case. He further said that because the issue predated the existence of Globalfoundries, it is not concerned with it, or in a position to comment.
