A leaked video recording of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2", which is scheduled for a next month release, shows that the forthcoming game allows players to gun down innocent civilians in a realistic depiction of a terrorist attack at an airport.

The game, developed by the Santa Monica, California-based Activision Blizzard Inc, has received an "M" rating, which is for mature audiences. Incidentally, the publisher expects the game to be the most profitable launch thus far in the entertainment arena as a whole, including not just games, but also music as well as movies.

In its Wednesday e-mailed statement about the leaked footage of the forthcoming game, Activision clarified that the recording has been taken illegally and, in no way, represents the overall experience of the game. Further elucidating its stand on the leaked scene, Activision said that the particular episode has been designed to evoke the "atrocities of terrorism."

Throwing light on the plot line, the game's publisher said that the player has to break into a Russian villain's inner circle for overcoming him, and the leaked airport attack footage relates to one of the scenes wherein the player acts as a member of the villain's gang.

Activision thus said that the game essentially follows players as they "face off against a terrorist threat dedicated to bringing the world to the brink of collapse."
