Twitter rolls out the beta of the ‘Lists’ feature to more users
Twitter's 'Lists'

The social networking site Twitter's 'Lists' feature went live as a beta for an increased number of Twitter users on October 29, and will expectedly be soon rolled to all its users. Thus far, the testing was open to only some limited users.

As the name suggests, the 'Lists' feature will allow the Twitter users to 'stack' their contacts into different arbitrary lists; thereby enabling them to split their Twitter contacts into a variety of smaller segments.

Using their lists, users will be able to segregate the updates from those whom they intensely follow - like the news feeds, or the staff of certain publication - as a click on that specific list will open up the 'tweets' from the people mentioned therein.

The lists, which can be either private or public, can also be viewed by other Twitter users who can even subscribe to those 'tweets' without the need of subscribing to the individual users.

Initially, the listing process may appear to be somewhat tedious, because users will have to sift individual users to add to specific lists, skim through the list of people they are following, or add people from their own Twitter page.

Nonetheless, specifying the benefit of Twitter's 'Lists' feature, TechCrunch has stated: "Once somebody makes a good list, other people can follow that entire list, which makes it much easier to get started on Twitter."
