The 27th Annual Golden Joystick Awards, held in London on Friday, named Fallout 3 the year's best game, amidst a crowd of celebrities, fans and game developers who had gathered to support and cheer one of the fastest growing entertainment industries of the current times.
In addition to Fallout 3, the post-apocalyptic role-playing game which was given the honor of being the Ultimate Game of the Year, Activison, the giant of the gaming industry, was the evening's big winner as it took home five laurels including Publisher of the Year.
The gaming industry has marked its place in the past year as one the very few markets to have made a good profit in the times of acute recession. In UK alone, the gaming sales reached a whopping 2.7 Billion during last year.
Among other show stealers of the night included Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Metal Gear Solid Touch, Killzone 2, World at War and Left4Dead. The Grand Theft Auto Series was given a special mention as the series games from which have won a Golden Joystick in each of the past 8 years.
