PBOX-15 has Strong Potential to Kill Leukemia - Scientists

In a discovery which is being viewed as one of the most significant medical breakthroughs of the current times, scientists have revealed that a new drug, called PBOX-15, which has been found to be exceptionally efficient in killing leukemia.

According to scientists, PBOX-15 can kill cancerous cells even in adult patients who have stopped responding or never did respond, to other treatments and drugs. It was revealed that the drug was effective in breaking down the skeleton in leukemia cells.

"We are still at an early stage," said, Professor Mark Lawler, one of researchers. "Now we have to move it on to see if there are any side-effects and bring it forward as a potential therapy for patients. But it's very exciting. We want to give hope to cancer patients."

The study, results of which are being considered as one of the most valuable finds, has been published in the internationally renowned Cancer Research journal. It was carried out by experts at the Trinity College Dublin, in collaboration with the University of Sienna, Italy.
